They were the biggest act in the world in December 2008 and Lawrence brought them to Sierra Leone. Out of this world!
The performed two live shows; a VIP event at the Country Lodge in Hillstation and the second one at the National Stadium Main Bowl. Pulling this show off has to be one of the highlights of the supremeINC success to date as it was super challenging to make it happen.
You have to understand that the norm in the country if to pull people down, so the haters did not want this show to succeed.
The Backlash...
The main sponsor of the show; COMIUM - did not support the event as well as they were contracted to do, based on differences that occurred between the supremeINC founder and the CEO of the mobile company, COMIUM at the time.
Notwithstanding, supremeINC persevered and made the shows happen through outstanding management of the project.
This show is important to the Sierra Leonean entertainment narrative because it is the first and remains the only time, when the biggest global act at a particular time has come to the country to perform.
The fans are used to megastars like Joe Hills, Akon and P Square coming to Sierra Leone to perform, just not when they are the premier global act. Nasio Fontaine is another mega act that has been to Sierra Leone, but just not at his global peak, so the Brick & Lace show in December 2008 remains unprecedented... thanks to supremeINC.
Lawrence 'Chief Bolo' Coker is proud of this particular project and says, 'it changed his life', showing him all that is great and at the same time, disgusting, about Sierra Leone.
To see a corporate sponsor act like a thug was eye-opening, but they couldn't stop the show. Many thanks go to the professionalism of the entire Brick & Lace team, including Chez Gayle and the girls.
Lawrence met Brick & Lace in Ghana, where they were performing at a club for VIPs. Temitope Adewale was their African agent and instrumental in making the show happen in Sierra Leone.
Entertainment is hugely rewarding, but only when you work with the best; and in Sierra Leone there is none better than the supremeINC team.
