supremeINC was founded by Lawrence 'Chief Bolo' Coker in 2004 and officially launched into the world of entertainment in 2005. The company has since worked on projects that include Prince Charles on the one hand and Brick and Lace on the other; both very significant events for different reasons.
However, this piece is more about the amazing achievements of supremeINC working with Sierra Leonean talent, mostly in music and comedy.
Emmerson, Khady Black and Hard Life, all launched their professional careers with supremeINC and many others, INCLUDING the multi-award winning Star Zee, have walked through our corridors on their way to stardom.
The supremeINC story started with the official launch of the Borbor Bele album by Emmerson Bockarie in 2005.
He produced all his music at Bodyguard Studios, making them his official record label at the time and he worked with one female artist on all the songs... the unique Vlicious.
“Released in 2005, the Borbor Bele album remains the second best selling album in Sierra Leone's history (Cassette Sellers Association figures); and the launch concert at the National Stadium remains the biggest concert in the country's history.”
The VIP launch for the album set the tone for what was to come for Emmerson. The event was well attended and some big boys pledged huge sums of money for the first signed copy of the CD.
The performances were well choreographed, with Emmerson, Vlicious and the dancers putting on a breathtaking show. The press were in attendance and they gave fantastic reviews on the music and the live concert at the Old Skool Complex in Hillstation. The complete package presented to the public that day really set the tone for Emmerson's management and firmly positioned supremeINC as the leading entertainment agency in all of Sierra Leone. Emmerson went on to set records in album sales, ticket sales and awards won at prestigious ceremonies like the Premier Music Awards. He remains a national icon who is well loved and loathed, depending on who is in government. He continues to inspire the public with his social commentary but has been known to produce wicked dance tracks, with Tutu Party still a fan favourite to this day.
Then came Sierra Leone's leading female reggae musician, Khady Black, who was also on the tour to the UK and the USA as well as regional shows to The Gambia and Guinea.
Breaking barriers...
When Khady Black attended the Peak Men Show at the National Stadium in April 2005, little did she know that her life was about to change forever!
She was spotted by the management of supremeINC who were there to ensure that their premier artist - Emmerson - had a good show himself. Immediately after Khady Black had performed, she was summoned to meet the supremeINC team and the rest is history.
Her debut album titled Mr Government was launched and released to critical acclaim and she quickly owned the mantle as the best live performer in the country, always going on stage with the Khady Black Band, within and outside of Sierra Leone.
Khady Black now lives in California in the USA and she is a media personality fronting her own radio show named after her: The Khady Black Unfiltered Show. She tackles all kinds of topics that usually revolve around hot and trending topics that are of interest to a Sierra Leonean audience and the world at large.
Music has always been her passion and she is currently in the studio working on her second album that should be released in and around 2022. Her focus she says is still social commentary and she wants to continue to be an ambassador for the youths and underprivileged in society. Khady Black is married to Jim and he supports her career in every way he can.
Famous? Yeah? That's the name of a recording artist from Sierra Leone who has taken on the baton from artists like Emmerson and continues to blaze a trail in the Afro Beast genre.
Famous' best work to date has arguably been the Brighter Future album on which supremeINC was a key partner in making the project happen.
The album features the classic title track, Brighter Future,
which is an inspirational song of motivation. It passes on the message that no matter what is going on today, with hard work and dedication, the future can be better.
On the album, Famous did a collaboration with the Nigerian Afro Beat megastar known as Flavour; an artist he has admired for quite a while.
"The opportunity to work with Flavour was one that I could not pass up and I'm glad that my team, including Tunex and Chief Bolo at supremeINC were on hand to make this collabo happen. Famous is working on his next studio album, which is yet to be titled.
Mama Na Wan...Two Nor Dae
Hard Life were launched to the public in 2006 by supremeINC. Their debut single resonated with the entire country and remains a classic that is still played at parties all over the country. The song, Mama is iconic as it relays the relationship that we all have with our 'Mothers'. It's catchy beat is what hooks you in but the lyrics keeps you dancing with your Mom, whenever the opportunity arises.
Hard Life launched at the National Stadium and had great success until they split up as a band some years later. Nevertheless, the Mama song continues to get airplay to this day inside and outside of Sierra Leone.
supremeINC is especially proud of Star Zee because she used to be signed to our management stable for a few years and we feel like we played in integral part in her development into becoming the regional superstar that she is today.
ZeeZee has continued to make good decisions with her career and her current management team at DozKabal is doing a fantastic job representing one of the most talented recording artists - male or female - from Sierra Leone.
As she says in one of her 2021 releases, 'Life', she retorts; "Look pan me watch - timeless".
Star Zee is truly a timeless artist whose songs will continue to be relevant even after she has retired and enjoying her hard work.
Keep keeping on Star Zee! We're proud of you.
Acts including Slash G, Conflix and RigiDan, SKYY, YouthMAN, Giants of the East (Comedy Ensemble), Fada Turg, and many others have gone through the supremeINC stable at some point in their careers, and we are proud to see them all doing relatively well in their professions to date.
